Comparing Streaming Services

With an average cable/satellite TV subscription costing over $100 per month, many people are turning to the internet for their TV watching. In addition to price differences, we also all like to watch what we want to watch, when we want to watch it without commercial interruptions. These are just some of the reasons of why Netflix and other popular streaming platforms have become more popular than cable TV. Here's a helpful guide from MVT to many ways you can watch your favorite TV shows when you ditch the expensive satellite dish.

1.    Moapa Valley TV District. Offers more than 30 local stations, many in HD, from Las Vegas, Provo, and Salt Lake City. All you need is an antenna which one of our local hardware stores can supply. Click here for a full channel line-up.

2.    Netflix. The first is still one of the most popular. Netflix provides movies and TV series, with content varying over time (what you found in July may not be there in August). Netflix is also known for its award-winning original content. Netflix costs between $8.99-$15.99 per month.

3.    Hulu. Hulu focuses on the latest broadcast television episodes, as well as their own original content. They have some movies, and this year have added some new theatrical releases. Hulu starts at just $5.99 per month. Hulu also offers a service that lets you stream about 50 channels of live TV, and costs $44.99 per month.

4.    YouTube TV. As long as we're talking about live TV YouTube offers one of the most comprehensive streaming services for live television. It offers about 50 channels of content, including local channels that vary depending on your location. It also gives you access to YouTube Red's original content. YouTube TV costs $40 per month.

5.    Sling TV. Sling TV is another offering that lets you watch live TV. Sling has two separate packages—Sling Orange (34 channels, $25) and Sling Blue (40 channels, $25)—with different channel lineups, or a combined package of 44 channels for $40 per month.

6.    Amazon Prime Video. Like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video offers movies and TV shows, as well as some original content. The service comes free for users who already have Amazon Prime, or $8.99 per month if you just want the video service.

7.    While these are the most popular services, this list isn't exhaustive. There are other services like AcornTV, CBS All Access, DirecTV Now, ESPN+, Fubo, HBO Now, Philo, PlayStation Vue, Showtime, Starz, Vudu, and more! You can also find a great comprehensive streaming search function on Just Watch. Whatever your tastes, there's a service or a few services you can subscribe to and find what you're looking for.

If there is a movie or TV show that you'd like to watch, but don't know where to find it, check out Just Watch for a comprehensive list of TV shows and movies, old and new.
