Secret Of This Optical Illusion
Here's a great reminder that things aren't always what they seem. The dots
appear to be moving in circles but are actually moving in straight lines.
This English Bulldog, named Tillman, is one multi-talented (and cool)
creature. Tillman skimboards, snowboards, and skateboards to The Beach Boys
classic, "Surfin' USA."
MVT Fiber Investment Makes Faster Internet Speeds Available
During 2014, MVDSL’s Internet traffic grew 50%. It
should be no surprise to anyone that more people are watching movies and TV
shows online. In fact, during most evenings Netflix alone accounts for
about 70% of our Internet traffic. This is why in 2014 MVDSL made the
following major investments:
- Increased our capacity to
the Internet by 50%.
- Installed a new fiber
system into Las Vegas with the potential of 88 Terabytes of data on
two fibers. That is enough capacity to handle roughly 15 Million HD
(1080p) movies at the same time.
- Increased the capacity of
our internal fiber network.
- Added more locations where
fiber to the home is available.
- Installed more VDSL.
Currently VDSL can support speeds of 100 Mb down and 50 Mb up. The
speeds that it can support vary by distance.
speeds more than 3 times that of our competitors.
In 2015, we will
offer even faster speeds. Customers with fiber to their home will be
able to upgrade to 100 Mb speeds within the next 30 to 60 days. We will
also continue to grow our network.
Our fiber network uniquely qualifies us as the only local provider with the
infrastructure to handle the future growth of the Internet. Wireless will
never have the capacity of fiber. This is why wireless providers limit your
usage or slow you way down after you reach a certain cap. Your 5 Gb data
plan may sound like a lot, but you can exceed 5 Gb with just one HD movie.
As always, we appreciate our customers and we will continue to improve our

This Month's FAQ – What Do The Terms "Digital Native" And
"Digital Immigrant" Mean?
Question: I've heard the terms "digital
native" and "digital immigrant" but I don't know what they
mean. Can you explain?
Answer: The terms "digital native" and "digital
immigrant" both refer to how much of their lives people have spent in
the digital world. Digital natives are those who have been interacting with
digital devices, and especially the Internet, all their lives and feel
comfortable with this technology. Digital natives are usually people in
Generation Y and younger.
Digital immigrants are typically people belonging to Generation X and
previous generations, who experienced life before the Internet. These folks
may have grown up with TV, video games, and early computers but were
introduced to the Internet as teens or adults. They have adapted to the
Internet and related technologies but the interaction isn't as comfortable as
it is for younger users.
